How I Became A Life Coach

Sep 13, 2024

I've been wanting to share this story for a long time and I don't know why I kept putting it off.  I believe it is an unusual story because most life coaches had the experience of getting coached before they entered into the profession.  For me, it was quite different.  I never experienced what you would call traditional life coaching.

I took a lot of yoga classes and then became a teacher.  I have been teaching yoga for 20 years and much of my life was created from being informed through my yoga practice.

Some of the lessons I learned in yoga include...

  • You are your own best teacher - look within.
  • The goal of Yoga is to direct and focus mental activity.
  • There's always more - to learn, experience, teach, create.
  • Breathe deep - a lot.
  • Pause to let experiences sink in...then be responsive (versus reactive).
  • Look for the best in others first.
  • Awareness is available and expansive.
  • You do not have to be ruled by stress.  You are in control of your own mind.

And...there is so much more!  Yoga is a deep and vast practice.  I don't know who I would be today without my practice and I'm so grateful for all the teachers who have helped me grow.

Coaching is another subject but one that has also helped me be emotionally wealthy.  I have learned to coach myself but I still like being coached by others.  Mainly I have had business coaching in the last few years, but with that, my mind is always challenged.

If you have never taken yoga, had coaching, and don't have tools to help you be emotionally powerful, reach out and let's have a conversation.  I don't charge for a conversation.  It's important to see if I can even help you.
