How to Handle Family Dysfunction During Holiday Gatherings
Dec 22, 2023I have actually coached people on how to better deal with their families around the holidays.
Because of the mix of personalities in the family, there is bound to be some discord - and my family is no exception!
I have personal experience practicing self-constraint and using my manners throughout the holiday season and other family-related gatherings.

My hope is that you will come away with a few key understandings:
1) Dysfunction comes from trauma or people who have a low level of emotional intelligence. The good news is that with mental health assistance, a person can change into a better functioning and more emotionally intelligent person (sometimes).
2) You cannot control what other people do or say or how they act. You can only control you.
3) There are strategies you can use to diffuse dysfunctional communication at family gatherings and throughout your life.
